Hi, I’m Ruth Smart from Copper Braid Products in Liverpool and I’d like to talk to you briefly about our range of
copper braids for power applications.
I’ve got a couple of our power connectors here. This for copper braid busbar for example would be used for connecting
a standby power unit onto a busbar system and what we’ve got here is a very flexible connection where we’re going through 90° in a short relatively short distance and this would be really quite difficult to do with a cabled alternative.
What we’ve got is layers of different copper braid so if I fan them out like that you can see the range we’re doing and we’re bringing them down into a rectangular termination into which we drilled a stud hole.
For this sort of application what we need to know from you is your full load current, your short circuit characteristics if you have them, the dimensions that you want us to achieve, the diameters of the stud holes, whether there are any width limitations, length limitations and also whether or not you need it to be insulated.
I’d also like to show you this unit, this is 700 Square mil 2,000 amp full load current. As you can see it’s bent through 90° which would be extremely difficult to do by cables or any other conductor system and most importantly I’d like to
show you this because this really illustrates the flexibility that we can achieve with copper braid.
This example is for connecting Transformer to a busbars, we’re going from metric to Imperial, we’re going from a narrow busbar connection to a wide busbar connection and we’re achieving this by multi-layering the braid and then fanning the braid out to give a much wider connection. This again would be very difficult to do with cables or any
other solution so if you would like to find out more information on how we can design a solution that will save you
time and money please give me a call.
Thank you.
