Hi, I’m Ruth Smart from Copper Braid Products in Liverpool and I’d like to talk to you briefly about our range of
copper braids for power applications.
I’ve got a couple of our power connectors here. This for copper braid busbar for example would be used for connecting
a standby power unit onto a busbar system and what we’ve got here is a very flexible connection where we’re going through 90° in a short relatively short distance and this would be really quite difficult to do with a cabled alternative.
What we’ve got is layers of different copper braid so if I fan them out like that you can see the range we’re doing and we’re bringing them down into a rectangular termination into which we drilled a stud hole.
For this sort of application what we need to know from you is your full load current, your short circuit characteristics if you have them, the dimensions that you want us to achieve, the diameters of the stud holes, whether there are any width limitations, length limitations and also whether or not you need it to be insulated.
I’d also like to show you this unit, this is 700 Square mil 2,000 amp full load current. As you can see it’s bent through 90° which would be extremely difficult to do by cables or any other conductor system and most importantly I’d like to
show you this because this really illustrates the flexibility that we can achieve with copper braid.
This example is for connecting Transformer to a busbars, we’re going from metric to Imperial, we’re going from a narrow busbar connection to a wide busbar connection and we’re achieving this by multi-layering the braid and then fanning the braid out to give a much wider connection. This again would be very difficult to do with cables or any
other solution so if you would like to find out more information on how we can design a solution that will save you
time and money please give me a call.
Thank you.

Hi I’m Ruth Smart from copper braid products in Liverpool and I’m here to show you how we can save you time and money with our range of copper braid products.
I have here on the desk in front of me a wide range of copper braid products, everything from tiny little ones like this which will be typically used to Earth the steel door to the frame, up to bigger copper straps like this that would typically be used as part of a lightning protection system and going even bigger here’s one which is multi-layered which would typically be used as part of a power generation system and then the biggest ones we make
is something like this where we’ve not only multi-layered the copper braid we split it so that we can have
different types of connections at each end typically used to connect Transformers to busducts.
So if you’d like us to show you how we can save you time and money with your a copper braid product needs please call me.
Thank you

1200mm2 Copper Braid busbar 50mm wide

This 1200mm2 Copper Braid busbar 50mm wide is made from 12 layers of 100 mm copper braid. The current rating depends on installation conditions but will be between 2400 Amps and 3000 Amps (1000 to 1200 KVA on a 415 Volt system)

This type of flexible busbar is used to connect busducts to transformers, standby power generators and alternators, where there is thermal expansion and / or vibration.

We have many years of experience in the design and manufacture of this type of product on short lead times. Please contact us for more information.

New 100 Ton hydraulic press

Copper braid products has invested in a new 100 Ton hydraulic press to extend the range of flexible copper busbars that can be manufactured on site to 5,000 Amps (2,500 sq mm)

These can be up to 200 mm wide and can be either a single copper busbar or multiple copper busbars.

Please contact us for more information about this type of product.
